When and why did you start training for fighting?

“I started training for fighting in summer '98. I was working out in Columbus with aspirations of making the freestyle wrestling Olympic team. Coleman got a call from Brazil, asked if I wanted to fight for 1000$ and a free trip to Brazil. As an amateur wrestler I would have fought 4 or 5 times just for a trip to Brazil. Started fight training (pushing cars) and a month later fought Braga in a war, not knowing a thing.”

What ranks and titles do you hold?

NCAA DIV II national wrestling champ, US national freestyle all-American, Korean Neofight HWT. Champ, WEF Heavyweight champ, WV college conference tennis champ.

Do you have any heroes?

“Arthur Ashe, Bob Marley, MC Serch, Mark Coleman, Tommy Hearns.”

What is your favorite movie?

“Carlito's Way or Bottle Rocket.”

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?

“I am really excited about it. It’s been a long time coming. I can’t wait to get in there and go for it.”

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?

“B.A. from West Liberty State College (West Virginia).”

What was your job before you started fighting?

“I worked as an Executive Protection Specialist.”

What is your biggest weapon in a fight?

“The right hand from the cheap seats.”
