TRAINING: Vicious strength/conditioning, recovering by enjoying my free time and spending the day at Alliance MMA in San Diego: sparring, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, rehabbing.
Thoughts on opponent, Kazuki Tokudome? Kazuki is a very well-rounded fighter who likes to use his judo skills to smother fighters on the ground and particularly against the cage. He is very tough with lots of heart, and he can weather the storm, so to speak, when it comes to taking punishment. However, I feel that his style matches well with mine, giving me the advantage both standing and in wrestling. I’m very much looking forward to competing against such a worthy and durable opponent.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I've wrestled since I was four, so it just clicked the first time I ever watched it. I was hooked from there on out and started training.
What ranks and titles have you held? Midwest Cage Championship Lightweight Champion
Do you have any heroes? My heroes are the men and women who give their lives to protect our freedom, giving us the opportunity to pursue our dreams.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It's a dream I now get to live, which is crazy to think about. It's just another step in the right direction, but there is still a lot of work to do and time to work even harder.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? No
What was your job before you started fighting? Bartender - so I could make it by and still train during the day.
