UFC 119 weigh ins: Matt Mitrione
TRAINING: Cardio is done at Purdue University. Either running stairs at the football stadium or sprints and prowler pushes in the indoor facility. Training is wrestling with Purdue's wrestling team and training with #TeamTwoTon in Indy with help from my mentor, Chris Lytle. These have been some of the most physically intense practices I've had in years.
Thoughts on opponent, Derrick Lewis? If you're going to call me out by name, you better be worth your salt because you're getting my very best.
When and why did you start training for fighting? A good friend (Jayson Werth – Phillies) asked me to fight in his inaugural promotion. I agreed and the rest is history.
What ranks and titles have you held? I’m just a nobody
Do you have any heroes? Those who make the world better everyday in whichever manner they can.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It is a fulfillment of a quest. I continually test myself and this is another hurdle that I decided to conquer.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Purdue University – Law & Society with minors in supervision and communications
What was your job before you started fighting? I am the CEO of EDEN – Engineered & DEsigned Nutrition. It’s a sports nutrition company.
Ranks in any martial arts styles: I'm a camouflage belt in awesome, turquoise belt in linguistics and a clear belt when I “trane” UFC. All very distinguished in their own way
