TRAINING: I go to Starbucks and have a cappuccino and a cig. Then I head over to AKA and walk at 3.0 on the tread for a half hour listening to my headphones. Then I go to Burger King for lunch, get a value meal, then I go home and sleep and recover. Then I drink a Xyience energy drink and I ride my bike to the gym and do some bench curls and situps. Then I ride all the way back home. I’m usually exhausted, so I have a Syntha 6 protein shake and a Bud Light and snooze.
When and why did you start training for fighting? 1999. I can’t sing or dance and it beats working every day.
What ranks and titles have you held? Two-time NJCAA All-American in wrestling
Do you have any heroes? None
What is your favorite technique? Punch in the mush
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? The UFC is the NFL and I’m happy to be fighting in the big league
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Central Michigan Bio and Psychology
What was your job before you started fighting? Everything from making pizza to selling cars to working construction
Specific accomplishments in pro competition? Fighting pro for ten years. Fought around the globe and fought myself back into the UFC in my home town – I’m pretty proud of that
