TRAINING: Grappling, striking, jiu-jitsu, strength and conditioning, plyometrics – it all depends on the day.
Thoughts on opponent, Johny Hendricks? He’s a really good wrestler who can fight. Plain and simple, he can fight. He’s got good hands and he puts people to sleep – that’s a nasty combination. He stands with everyone he fights, he takes people down, and he’s going to do it all. You just can’t come into the game and be one-sided, because if you are, you’re probably going to get hurt. He’s going to look for his opportunities to knock me out, and if not then he’ll try to take me down and mix it up.
When and why did you start training for fighting? I did martial arts growing up and moved on to fighting. I like competing.
