When and why did you start training for fighting? I originally started training MMA in Oroville, CA with some older buddies in a garage that had no electricity. We sparred a lot and I learned how to be tough real quick, and once I took my first fight on a couple hours’ notice two weeks after I graduated high school, I was hooked. 

What ranks and titles have you held? Global Knockout Featherweight champion. 

Do you have any heroes? My father. 

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? Fighting in the UFC is a dream come true. Now I just need to seize my opportunity and create a lasting legacy. 

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Yes, I went to North Dakota State University, where I wrested and obtained my bachelor’s degree in Social Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. 

What was your job before you started fighting? My job has always been a sport. I’ve had odd jobs here and there, but my parents created an environment where my sole job has always been to train as best and hard as I possibly could, whether it was for wrestling or MMA. 
Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? I never got the chance to fight for a belt, but I tried fighting the toughest dudes around as an amateur, which really helped me before I began my pro career. 

Favorite grappling technique: Double leg takedown.
