Biography

TRAINING: I normally have my first session at 10am. I train MMA for 2 hours. The training varies, with standup, takedowns and ground game - always with punches, simulating a fight. At 4pm I will have my second session, normally Olympic lifting or wrestling, depending on the day. Not every day, but a few nights a week I will do a third session around 8pm of just cardio; usually I would go for a run. Then I will sleep like a baby!!

When and why did you start training for fighting?
I've been training BJJ as far as I can remember. Before I could even walk my father already was teaching me an arm lock.

What ranks and titles have you held? I'm a seven-time world champion in Jiu-Jitsu, three-time open weight world champion. In 2005 I fought in the ADCC, winning by submission in all eight of my fights.

Do you have any heroes? No

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
I have a PHD in BJJ, ha ha

What was your job before you started fighting? BJJ teacher

Ranks in any martial arts styles: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt

Favorite grappling technique:
I don’t have any; the best one is the one I can apply in the moment.

Favorite Striking technique:
Right hand
